If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Tomorrow is the first ever GR8 Parenting Expo at the DeVos Place, held in conjunction with the West Michigan’s Mom to Mom sale.
“Parenthood, unfortunately, does not come with a how-to manual. You can find books that tell you how to teach your child to sleep through the night or obey your every command (yeah, right!), but if you are like me it is hard to find the time to read the book. Let’s face it, parents are busy! Whether you have a newborn or a middle schooler, your life revolves around shaping another human being’s life. You want to make the best choices for your family and we want to help you take some of the work out of your job as a parent.
The GR8 Parenting Event is a one day expo that will provide parents in West Michigan the opportunity to check out the resources available in their community. Everything from doulas to local colleges and day camps to daycares will be present to answer questions and share their expertise. Local experts will be leading free classes on baby wearing, how to make homemade baby food, couponing and so much more!“
Not only can you visit different local vendors, they have a full line-up of classes throughout the day. From learning cloth diapering and babywearing with Hopscotch Children’s Store to learning about how food affects your children’s health.
It runs from 9am to 5pm and admission is free!

We live on a mosquito farm. Seriously. Everyone has them at their house in the summer right? Right. Except we also have a good size river that floods during the spring/summer rains and then proceeds to fill all of the low lying areas just a few hundred feet from our front door. I mean, we [...]

Why have the mental illness and mental disorder rates increased in recent years? Is it the food we eat? Or just as important, the food we don’t eat? According to Carol Simontacchi and her book “The Crazy Makers: How the Food Industry is Destroying Our Brains and Harming Our Children” it does. This book not [...]
15 Minutes Outside

I recently read 15 Minutes Outside, 365 ways to get out of the house and connect with your kids by Rebecca P. Cohen. Actually, I read it when it was 80 degrees outside back in March. It was so easy to make sure my kids got outside everyday then. But now we’re back to chilly [...]

My family relies on yard sales and thrift stores for a majority of our purchases including clothing, appliances, bedding, and furniture. I enjoy shopping, but with my focus being on simple living and paying [...]
